Your role:

As the Operations Manager at Saab Canada, Inc., you will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of our Halifax office and ensuring the successful execution of all projects. You will formulate strategies necessary for business success and growth, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage all aspects of customer contracts. This role involves managing the entire or partial Saab product portfolio and other opportunities as assigned by the President of Saab Canada, Inc.

As the Operations Manager, you will also:

  1. Lead the project management office within Saab Canada, Inc., ensuring all operations align with local laws, regulations, and defined company processes.
  2. Build strategic relationships with key contacts within customer and prospect organizations to ensure effective program execution.
  3. Identify and collaborate with industrial partners to strengthen Saab’s market position through existing or new joint offers.
  4. Meet and exceed business order intake, sales, and revenue targets, in line with set budgets.
  5. Maintain and ensure compliance with customer safety and security regulations.
  6. Manage spare stock and test equipment at the site in accordance with customer safety and security rules.
  7. Stay up-to-date with relevant product knowledge and participate in contract and commercial negotiations.
  8. Align with Saab’s policies and directives while managing programs, contracts, and customer expectations.

Your profile:

As the ideal candidate for the Operations Manager role at Saab Canada, Inc., you are a dynamic and strategic leader with a proven track record in operations management. You bring a deep understanding of the defence and security industry, coupled with a strong ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders. You are adept at managing complex projects, driving business growth, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Your proactive nature, combined with your ability to adapt to changing environments, makes you an effective leader capable of executing Saab’s mission and strategic goals.

Your skills and experience:

Required Education and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a related business or technical discipline, or equivalent experience in defence/security work or technical training.
  2. 10+ years of experience in operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  3. Documented experience in project and operations management or relevant sectors.

Required Skills:

  1. Strong interpersonal skills with good judgment, diplomacy, communication, time management, and patience.
  2. Proven leadership abilities in organizing and executing operational activities, including building industry teams and assessing win probability to develop business opportunities.
  3. Developed social skills and a positive attitude, with the ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  4. Proactive self-starter; self-motivated individual with a positive and ambitious attitude.
  5. Ability to develop team member competencies, perform goal setting, provide performance feedback, and support self-development activities.
  6. Ability to adapt to different and changing situations.
  7. Extensive understanding of standard business processes and the local business environment in assigned markets.
  8. Maintain product knowledge in technical base specifications and commercial aspects to perform the duties of Site Manager for the Halifax office.
  9. Well-developed written and presentation skills in English; proficiency in an additional language is preferred, though not essential.
  10. Eligibility to meet requirements for Canadian government security clearances and Canadian controlled goods assessment.
