Job Title: Operations Manager

We are dedicated to providing sustainable waste management solutions and are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at our Calgary, Alberta, Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations in Lethbridge. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a background in waste management or a similar industry. You will be responsible for ensuring the facility runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently, while meeting both operational and financial targets.
Please note: position start date is set for January 2025.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Personnel Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team to ensure optimal performance and professional growth.
- Implement and maintain high standards of work environment and employee relations.
- Manage staffing levels, conduct performance evaluations, and oversee employee discipline and development.
- Operational Excellence:
- Oversee the daily operations of the MRF, ensuring efficient processing and sorting of recyclable materials.
- Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and technology, to meet production goals.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, as well as company policies.
- Financial Performance:
- Develop and manage the facility's budget, focusing on cost control, revenue growth, and profit margins.
- Monitor and report on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
- Collaborate with senior management to align operational goals with overall company objectives.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Champion a culture of safety, ensuring all employees adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure the facility is in compliance with all relevant laws.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in the waste management or recycling industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven track record of improving operational efficiency.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, environmental science, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
