Job description

Who We Are

Creston Non-Profit Housing Collective (CNPHC) is an original idea, created to operate non-profit housing properties in Creston owned by the Creston Valley Community Housing Society, Creston Trinity Housing Society and Kootenay Region Association for Community Living. These three non-profit organizations provide housing to low-income families, seniors and people with disabilities.

The goal of CNPHC is to professionalize and streamline operations, reduce reliance on volunteers and ensure the ongoing viability of the non-profit organizations that form the Collective. CNPHC is also looking to free up time and talent so that their volunteers can focus on creating housing for the Creston Valley.

Creston is located in a beautiful farming valley in south-eastern BC. We boast a mild climate, ample recreational opportunities and a friendly, small-town atmosphere.

Who You Are

You are a person who is looking for a challenge, who enjoys developing new procedures and pathways. You are highly organized, have attention to detail, work well on your own but also can interact positively with people of different ages, abilities and skills. You excel at communication, customer service and conflict resolution.

Experience

Ideally, you have a minimum of 3 years of property management experience, with a working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act. A degree in Property Management or Business Administration would be preferred. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Duties

Based in Creston, this new position will work closely with the CNPHC. This Operations Management Role controls all aspects related to rental management, including but not limited to the following duties: overseeing our admin worker, showing rental units, qualifying tenants, signing documents, detailed walk-throughs, regular inspections, dealing with tenant conflicts, arbitrations when required, collections, eviction services, liaison with Bailiffs when required, arranging for cleaning and repairs where required, coordinating routine maintenance, addressing emergency issues and mitigating damages.

An exciting part of the job will be to design and implement systems to manage our current buildings, and to develop capital budgets to ensure the ongoing success of our units. Once these are in place, attention can be turned to helping develop new housing projects for the Creston Valley.

The role will also involve developing a relationship with other non-profit housing boards in the valley.
