Position Summary

As a key member of the operations leadership team, the Operations Manager is responsible for executing daily and seasonal greenhouse activities through the Supervisor team and aligning task execution with business priorities. This role supports the Director of Operations, BC, by maintaining momentum on the production floor, coordinating with key departments, and ensuring that Bevo’s high standards for quality, labour efficiency, and plant care are consistently met.

The Operations Manager plays a critical role in driving clarity, accountability, and effective communication across teams. This position will also directly coach and develop Supervisors, helping to build their leadership capacity and communication skills so they are better equipped to lead their teams, enforce operational standards, and support continuous improvement efforts on the floor.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Oversight & Team Leadership

  1. Provide day-to-day direction and support to Supervisors, ensuring that production tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and on schedule.
  2. Assist in coaching Supervisors to increase their effectiveness towards business objectives, including adoption of new technologies, lean management principles, communication, and ability to enforce standards and expectations with their teams.
  3. Assist in communication clarity of task ownership, performance expectations, and team accountability.

Communication & Cross-Departmental Alignment

  1. Help identify and correct communication breakdowns between departments, promoting a more seamless flow of information and shared ownership of outcomes.
  2. Participate in alignment meetings and follow up on cross-functional task completion.

Execution of Process Maps & Operational Standards

  1. Reinforce existing process maps and workflows across the production team, ensuring consistent adherence to SOPs.
  2. Support Supervisor development in identifying process gaps, correcting deviations, and escalating recurring issues.
  3. Assist in refining and implementing updated processes as needed, in coordination with the Director of Operations.
  4. Assist in the development of SOPs and Company Playbook.

Labour Efficiency & Continuous Improvement

  1. Monitor task sequencing and labour allocation, recommending improvements in execution to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  2. Embed a culture of continuous improvement by coaching Supervisors to observe workflow, ask questions, and take action on improvement opportunities.
  3. Collaborate with the Director of Operations to implement lean practices and track progress toward operational KPIs.

Technology Rollout & Adoption

  1. Assist in the rollout and implementation of new production tools, equipment, and technologies.
  2. Support training efforts and work with Supervisors and Lead Hands to drive adoption and effective use on the floor.

Space & Peak Season Planning

  1. Support the planning and execution of greenhouse space transitions and staging activities.
  2. Assist in labour and workflow preparation for peak periods, ensuring appropriate resource planning and clear execution strategy.

Support for Leadership Objectives

  1. Work closely with the Director of Operations to turn strategic direction into clear, actionable steps.
  2. Provide boots-on-the-ground insight and leadership continuity during high-demand periods or escalations.
Qualifications And Experience
  1. 5+ years of leadership experience in a high-volume production, agriculture, or horticulture environment.
  2. Demonstrated ability to lead and coach frontline supervisors and teams.
  3. Strong understanding of cross-functional coordination, workflow planning, and labour optimization.
  4. Experience driving improved communication, accountability, and standards adherence in operations teams.
  5. Familiarity with lean practices or continuous improvement methodologies.
  6. Strong interpersonal, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  7. Proficient in Office 365; ERP and Power BI familiarity preferred.
  8. Ability to communicate effectively in English; Spanish is a strong asset.
  9. Legally entitled to work in Canada.
