SUMMARY:
The Operations Lead – Packaging and Excise is responsible for overseeing and managing all activities related to packaging processes and compliance with excise regulations. The role involves ensuring operational efficiency, maintaining regulatory compliance, and achieving production targets while optimizing cost and quality. The candidate will lead teams, monitor performance, and liaise with cross-functional departments to ensure seamless operations.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Packaging Operations:
- Oversee daily packaging activities to ensure production schedules and quality standards are met.
- Implement and monitor SOPs for packaging to drive efficiency and minimize waste.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to manage packaging material inventory and packaged cannabis products.
- Ensure proper maintenance and optimization of packaging machinery and equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels while collaborating with the vault and warehouse staff.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as productivity, cost, and downtime, and implement strategies for improvement.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor the packaging and excise team to meet objectives and foster a high-performance culture.
- Conduct regular training sessions on best practices and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct bi-weekly one-on-ones with supervisors.
- Create KPIs for the team to target monthly.
Requirements:
- Must have 1-2 years of experience in Operations, preferably in manufacturing and packaging.
- Strong knowledge of packaging machinery, materials, and production processes.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven expertise in managing large teams.
- Professional and concise communication in written and oral form.
- Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft 365; especially in Excel.
- Attention to detail, strong organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, and able to work independently or with a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
- On site at the facility. 60% office, 40% production floor.
- Interactions with clients may be required.
