Overview:

Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Saturn Gas Plant is recruiting an Operations Engineer to join the team. This position reports to the Supervisor, Operations Engineering in the Gas Services Business Unit (GBU), part of Pembina’s Operations Business Division. The Gas Services Business Unit provides gas gathering, compression, shallow cut processing and both sweet and sour deep cut processing services for its customers, primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts.

The successful Operations Engineer will support the 400 mmcfd Saturn Gas Plant and will be part of an engineering team that works directly with the operations and maintenance teams to optimize daily gas plant operation, design and authenticate MOC’s ranging in a variety of size and complexity, and be a single point of contact for other departments.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”.
  • Manage engineering activities relating to the operation and integrity of facilities, including regulatory functions involving AER and ABSA.
  • Authenticate MOC, Replace in Kind, and operations related documents.
  • Troubleshoot facility issues to minimize impacts on production, and maintain product quality specifications.
  • Monitor plant performance and work with operations and maintenance to identify opportunities that increase throughput and reduce costs.
  • Evaluate facility optimization and GHG reduction opportunities.
  • Coordinate and execute projects under the Management of Change (MOC) process and Project Delivery & Governance Lifecycle framework (PDGL).
  • Lead engineering design, estimating, project planning, scheduling, and equipment sourcing.
  • Maintain interface between Engineering, Operations, Commercial, Projects, Finance, and Accounting teams.
  • Support planning and delivery of facility maintenance, regulatory, and turnaround schedules.
  • Plan engineering capital and operating budgets for the facilities.
  • Participate in knowledge sharing discussions with operations engineering team.
  • Maintain registration in good standing with APEGA.
  • Support operations engineers for other facilities within the same district as needed.
  • Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Registered professional engineer in good standing, coupled with a University degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, including Engineers In Training (E.I.T) experience.
  • Knowledge in ASME, CSA, and regulatory codes related to the operation of oil and gas facilities.
  • Demonstrated behaviors of adaptability and flexibility in managing competing priorities.
  • Energetic, resilient, collaborative, and goal oriented.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, applying sound engineering judgement and recommendations to the operations teams.
  • Advanced computer skills, analytical capabilities, and the ability to problem solve.
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Previous experience in supporting a processing facility is an asset.
  • Previous experience in engineering design is an asset.

The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Fox Creek, AB.

The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position. Final candidate will be required to undergo Pre-Employment Background Checks including a Criminal Record Check.
