OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
The Operations Director at CMHA Mid-Island Branch is an integral part of our Management team and the primary organizational lead for Human Resources, Risk Management, and Reporting processes.
You are responsible for providing leadership in planning, organizing, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the organization's operations. In collaboration with the Executive Director and Programs Director, you will develop and execute an operational strategy with prioritized objectives in alignment with the strategic plan and budget.

PRIMARY DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
INTERNAL OPERATIONS
- Collaborates with the Executive Director to direct the organization's business in accordance with all legislation, regulations, bylaws, and policies.
- Collaborates with the Executive Director to develop and oversee the board-approved annual budget.
- Ensures that legislative, licensing, accreditation, and insurance requirements are maintained.
- Supports a positive, healthy, and safe work environment.
- Ensures staffing requirements are met through the entire staff lifecycle, from role development, hiring, orientation, performance evaluation, and management.
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with CMHA Mid-Island’s mission, vision, and values that promote equity, diversity, and inclusivity.
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
- Identifies service needs within the community and advises the Executive Director and Programs Director on opportunities for program expansion.
GOVERNANCE AND BOARD RELATIONS
- Participates in relevant Board and Committee meetings.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS
- Establishes and maintains collaborative working relationships with community groups, government agencies, funders, politicians, and other organizations to achieve common goals.
- Participates in task forces, working groups, and other committees, as well as community events.
- Promotes CMHA Mid-Island programs and services in the community.
- Acts as an advocate for destigmatizing marginalized populations.
- Acts as an advocate for social justice within the organization, for service users, in the community, and at the political level.

EXPERIENCE
- Experience in a nonprofit environment, social housing organization, or mental health association. A background of working with unionized staff is an asset.
- Knowledge of community, stakeholder, and client challenges and opportunities related to the mandate of CMHA Mid-Island.
- Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation related to employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, CPP, EI, health coverage, etc.
- Leadership and management skills.
- Strategic, operational, financial, risk management, and program planning skills.
- Experience in human resources planning and management.
- Experience in community relations and advocacy.
- A strongly developed structural analysis of mental illness, substance use and housing precarity.
EDUCATION
- An appropriate combination of experience and education. Lived experience is a qualifying experience for this role.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Participation at meetings, conferences, and other events may involve long work days, evenings, or weekends, as well as some travel.
- Managing multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, including emergency and crises.
- The Operations Director will be required to have a criminal record check.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Guided by the salary range schedule for executive, management and excluded employees provided by the Health Employers Association of BC.
- Range 11: $97,209 - $139,738.
