Operations Coordinator, Ontario Woodlands

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Operations Coordinator (Atikokan or Fort Frances area) to join our Thunder Bay Woodlands team. This pivotal role encompasses strategic operational planning and oversight of wood harvesting, road construction, maintenance, and transportation. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in orchestrating a Woodlands operation that is not only safe and efficient but also cost-effective, environmentally sound, and sustainable. Your expertise will ensure that our forestry production consistently aligns with our high standards of quality right from the source.

Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations. This job is full-time.

Your Challenges:

1. Uphold and surpass the highest safety benchmarks during all operational activities.
2. Act as a key point of contact for Resolute Contractors, and primary contact as needed.
3. Collaborate with team members and contractors involved in harvesting and road construction to enhance operational effectiveness.
4. Adhere to all relevant safety, environmental, and utilization regulations.
5. Contribute to the management of departmental finances, promoting robust cost management practices.
6. Participate in the creation of yearly operational and forest road planning.
7. Engage proactively in our continuous improvement initiatives to elevate productivity.
8. Advocate for and enforce quality standards across all operations.
9. Oversee the quality of products such as tree length, roundwood, chips, and biomass.
10. Ensure all Collective Agreements are followed diligently.
11. Build and maintain positive relationships with government entities and public agencies, including Local Community Councils (LCCs).
12. Maintain operational proficiency in all sectors and provide team coverage as needed.
13. Continually enhance health and safety protocols, operational efficiency, production rates, and strategic planning for Ontario Woodlands.
14. Extensive field work and occasional overnight stays may be required.

Your Profile:

1. 1-5 years of experience in operational harvesting, road construction, and supervision.
2. Forestry degree with a professional designation (or is in the process of obtaining one), or a Forestry Technology diploma coupled with significant experience.
3. Should have, or be capable of obtaining, the Certified FOIP inspector accreditation.
4. Exceptional communication, collaboration, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
5. Ability to solve complex problems and adapt to changing situations.
6. Comprehensive understanding of MS Office Suite and proficient computing abilities.
7. Shows initiative to develop leadership skills and increase responsibilities.
