We openly share our thoughts and differing opinions so we can continue to improve. We do our best to keep our decision-making decentralized so that all team members feel ownership in our success.

Trusted by 4,000 Canadian companies, Float provides high-limit corporate cards, automated expense management, next-day bill payments, high-yield accounts and fast, friendly support—all built in Canada, for Canada. Our team is a collection of ambitious, collaborative and mission-driven people from all walks of life but with one goal: helping Canadian companies not just survive but thrive. And we're looking for bold innovators to help shape the future of business finance in Canada.

About The Operations Associate, Risk Role

Float is looking for an outstanding Operations Associate to join the Approvals function of our Compliance & Risk team! This is an exciting opportunity to be an integral part of our customer journey in a non-traditional, fast-paced environment. This role manages initial communication with customers, and collects all required documentation to determine their compliance. You will act as one of the final decision-makers in approving new Float customers onto our platform. If you are super detail-oriented, can learn new things quickly, and enjoy solving complex problems, this could be the role for you!

As an Ops Associate, you'll be responsible for:

  1. Customer Onboarding - Executing all aspects of our initial customer onboarding while maintaining swift service level agreements (SLA's). This includes training, documentation, and owning onboarding materials such as user guides, videos, and product tutorials. You will ensure that each customer is provided with an efficient and successful onboarding process.
  2. Stakeholder Management - Working with our prospective customers to acquire the information and documentation necessary for onboarding and compliance verification, as well as communicating with external banking partners for further risk management.
  3. KYB/KYC Compliance - Processing prospective customers' KYB + KYC applications to ensure they are compliant with Float's services.
  4. Mitigate Float's Internal Risk - Collaborating with other Float teams, such as Revenue, Customer Support, and the wider Risk team to ensure Float's own compliance with industry regulations and service standards.
  5. Data and Reporting - Track and analyze core metrics related to the customer approvals function to empower data-driven process developments and improvements.
  6. Special Projects & more - As required to help work towards our company mission.

Requirements

You'll be great in this role if:

  1. You've got the experience. We're looking for at least one year of experience in an operations or customer-facing role in the financial services industry. Previous knowledge of and/or experience with KYB + KYC is highly preferred. Exposure to B2B SaaS and/or an early to mid-stage startup environment will be an asset.
  2. You have spectacular attention to detail. You take pride in being thorough and accurate. You're a stickler for detail and rarely miss important information required to complete a task.
  3. You're customer-obsessed. You believe in doing the right thing for customers. You'll advocate endlessly for them, you actively listen, and have a natural curiosity to understand their needs. You love building credibility and trust with our customers by being super responsive and doing your best to make each and every interaction a 10/10 or above. Customer interactions aren't just your job - they're something you truly enjoy.
  4. You're a quick study and can learn on the fly. You have a growth mindset, and relish in the fact that every day there is an opportunity to learn something new and become an expert in. You stay curious, want to make mistakes, and grow from failure.
  5. You're a critical thinker. You are able to use all information at your disposal to decide what to do next. You look for things outside the box and know there are opportunities to improve every process. You consistently go the extra mile to gather information and connect the dots.
  6. You're an owner. You are comfortable managing large queues of conflicting priorities. You excel at prioritizing your top to-dos and sticking to them. At the same time, you're comfortable with last-minute projects or incidents and can go with the flow.
  7. You're a strong communicator. You love all forms of written communication. Whether it's through email, a chat, or internal documentation - you always find the best way to engage with people. You err on the side of over-communicating to ensure everyone's up to speed on the most important information.
  8. You're an exceptional teammate. You love working with colleagues to brainstorm, share insights, and solve team-wide challenges. You set a high bar for yourself and others. You proactively seek out direct feedback and are comfortable providing it as well.
  9. You're flexible and reliable. This role may require you to work evenings and weekends, and being able to respond to inquiries at the drop of a hat. Being open to change and being flexible with your availability all while being dependable is an absolute must.
  10. Nice-to-have: Previous knowledge and/or experience with KYB + KYC, and our internal tooling (Zendesk, Retool, Persona, Trulioo, and Slack). We will train you on all of the above if you have not worked with them before!

This role won't be a fit if:

  1. You do not have a strong work ethic.
  2. You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently.
  3. You are not organized and efficient.
  4. You aren't extremely detail-oriented.
  5. You don't like regular feedback on your work.
  6. You aren't a problem solver.
  7. You don't love working asynchronously.
  8. You do not thrive in a team environment.
  9. You aren't customer obsessed.

Don't meet every single requirement? If you're excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
