We're looking for an enthusiastic Operations Assistant to take on a key role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations, from overseeing our dock workers to managing critical customer delivery times. What You'll Be Doing:

• Oversee daily operations, managing dock workers, lead hands, office staff, and drivers
• Organize tasks, ensuring smooth dock operations and on-time deliveries
• Handle customer inquiries, resolve issues, and collaborate with the Sales team
• Manage manpower schedules, overtime, and hiring of additional cartage
• Provide training to drivers and dock workers on safety procedures and best practices
• Address disciplinary matters when needed working to change behaviour in a positive manner
• Assist with vendor and contractor relations
• Respond to union member concerns and feedback
• Participate in health & safety initiatives, including safety training and completing reports
• Onboard new union employees
• Take on ad-hoc projects and assist with office staff training as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience supervising operations and a team ensuring smooth day-to-day functions in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team
• Ability to effectively handle customer complaints, operational challenges, and time-sensitive situations
• Understanding and commitment to maintaining a safe work environment for all team members
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, customers, and management
• Able to collaborate effectively across departments and teams to achieve common goals

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous knowledge of trucking industry and AS400 is preferred
