The Opportunity
Mosaic is seeking an Operations Accountant for a 1-year work term to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.


The Role
Working with the Timberlands Finance team, the Operations Accountant is responsible for a range of financial tasks, including cost and project accounting, data management and financial modelling, journal entries, month-end tasks, and preparation of month-end reconciliations.


Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Supporting the Operations Finance group by providing financial analysis and reporting on business results;
  2. Ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial records, data, and reporting for Operations and Timberlands Finance;
  3. Developing and maintaining consistent tracking of information to support informed business decisions and project reporting;
  4. Preparing and analyzing transactions at month end for reporting purposes, preparing management reports for discussion, and reviewing reconciliations;
  5. Supporting the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes within the organization including providing assistance to end users when needed;
  6. Maintaining a safe, dynamic, inclusive workplace that aligns with the company goals and values.

What We're Seeking:

  1. 2nd Year CPA program and/or Accounting Diploma;
  2. Strong understanding of general cost accounting concepts;
  3. Strong ability to thrive in a team-based, highly diverse, equitable, and inclusive collaborative environment;
  4. High level of professionalism;
  5. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills;
  6. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  7. Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills;
  8. Proficiency in operations systems such as Microsoft Dynamics or Business Central 365, 3Log LIMS and Concur SAP is preferred but not required;
  9. Forestry accounting experience is preferred but not required.

Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is $79,800 to $99,800. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
