About you and this role:

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Operational Excellence Project Manager located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.

This Operational Excellence Project Manager role leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity in processes and drive operational excellence. They champion projects, tools, content, and processes to support operational excellence and collaborate with business units to optimize and improve process effectiveness. Additionally, they manage project scopes, objectives, schedules, and stakeholder alignment through functional reviews and effective communication. They utilize and enforce project change management program and foster a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong safety focus that embraces diversity and inclusion, innovation and sustainability, and continuous improvement and empowerment.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply continuous improvement (CI) methodology to site projects and initiatives.
  • Lead the continuous improvement work process to create value including data collection, gap analysis, idea generation, prioritization, improvement project implementation, and review of results.
  • Use data and analytical tools to identify inefficiencies in current processes and implement strategies to improve them.
  • Partner with site organizations to lead or assist with continuous improvement plans.
  • Serve as a change agent for driving technology.
  • Lead site level collaboration and networking on key work processes (for example CAPA - Corrective and Preventive Actions) tracking to provide consistency and maximize value and identify site gaps and trends.
  • Develop site level problem solving expertise including assisting, coaching and partnering with facilities on complex technical problems and application of fundamental problem solving principles.
  • Establish and maintain communication mechanisms to effectively leverage key learnings, share experiences and best practices to reduce duplication of efforts, resolve issues, and continuously improve utilization of management systems.
  • Assist Operational Excellence Leader to lead Alberta Operations goal setting and communication.
  • Short term coverage of the DMA (Digital Manufacturing Acceleration) implementation manager role during a parental leave.
  • The DMA implementation manager is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and communicating the tactical and strategic elements of Alberta Operations implementation plans to deliver on business needs including prioritization and implementation of site digital improvement opportunities.

  • Financial Acumen: Ability to understand and apply financial knowledge to make informed decisions, encompassing skills like financial literacy, budgeting, forecasting, risk assessment, and resource allocation.
  • Situational Leadership: Adapting your leadership style to the specific needs of the situation and the individuals involved, requiring flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to diagnose and respond to different situations effectively.
  • Stakeholder Management: Requires a blend of soft and hard skills, including communication, relationship building, conflict resolution, strategic thinking, and the ability to understand and influence diverse groups.
  • Strong troubleshooting: Ability to identify and resolve problems, encompassing analysis, problem-solving, and communication to understand the root cause and implement effective solutions.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify problems, analyze situations, brainstorm solutions, and implement effective strategies to overcome challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitative, and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision within an empowered team environment.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
  • A minimum of 6 years of project management, engineering, manufacturing or related experience required.
  • Previous exposure to CI Tools (Six Sigma, LEAN, IPS, Hypothesis Testing) as an asset but not required.
  • Previous experience in PowerBI an asset but not required.
  • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including any type of permanent residency support.

  • This role is located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this role.
