Position Information
One of Canada's largest teaching and research hospitals, The Ottawa Hospital (TOH or the Hospital) is a multi-campus, academic health sciences center serving the 1.2 million residents of Ottawa and Eastern Ontario. TOH is looking to meet essential needs within the organization by adding to its Mechanical Systems Team.
TOH has over 4M square feet of building space that is a complex physical environment that requires a diversity of maintenance and upkeep. With a 1st class boiler plant, joining our team of stationary engineers will provide you with the foundation and experience to build your career. We offer comprehensive benefits and are member of the HOOPP pension plan, where employer contributions are 126% of employee contributions. This position may qualify for relocation reimbursements.
The annual salary is based on a 37.5 hour work week.
Rotation/Shifts
Days, evenings, and nights, including weekends, 8 and 12 hour shifts (06:30-14:30, 06:00-18:00).
Salary Information
The hourly rate includes a $6.25/hour market premium.
Responsibilities
As a Stationary Engineer you will be responsible to maintain in a safe and efficient manner all hospital HVAC systems and their related equipment such as: boilers, chillers, compressors, etc.
Basic Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Licensed 3rd Class Stationary Engineer;
- Minimum three (3) years experience in operation and maintenance of various building equipment and systems, with particularly emphasis on centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, pneumatic tube systems, HVAC systems/water treatment, emergency power generators and Building Automation Systems (BAS) such as Honeywell EBI 1000, Excel and Graphic Central;
- Ability to read schematics and line diagrams;
- Training in Occupational Health & Safety and WHMIS;
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
