Position: Our Counsellors are responsible for providing direct social work service to clients in accordance with Centre policy and programs. Counsellors have sound knowledge of social work practices, experience in solution-focused therapy, with excellent interpersonal skills. This position will report directly to the Clinical Supervisor and Programs Manager located in our Sarnia office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide short term strength-based counselling to individuals.
- Provide clinical services, including assessments and treatment.
- Evaluate client needs and collaboratively develop goals and strategies to achieve client objectives.
- Implement effective clinical interventions using a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a highly skilled and professional team.
- Maintain sound clinical judgement, uphold ethical standards, and remain committed to professional development.
- Maintain administrative duties and case notes in accordance with Agency and College standards.
- Participate in formal supervision and monthly clinical team meetings.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge about the range of services provided by FCC and by other community service providers.
- Actively engage in professional development as required for proficiency in best practices.
- Participate as an active member of the Family, Couple, Individual Counselling Team.
- Complete any additional duties, not outlined above, as deemed necessary by the Clinical Supervisor and Programs Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Experience providing short term counselling from a Trauma informed lens.
- Strong interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to work both as a member of a team, as well as independently.
- Willingness to travel as required within the Lambton County area if needed.
- Always demonstrates professional and respectful etiquette.
- Familiar with MS Suite; Doxy.me, proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe.
- Bilingualism in both official languages of Canada is preferred, but not required.
- Easily builds therapeutic rapport with clients through the effective use of self in clinical work.
- Training and experience providing a variety of therapeutic modalities including but not limited to: SFT, CBT, DBT, Narrative, trauma informed, and EFT.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven flexibility and adaptability working in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills as it relates to client care.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Self-motivated and demonstrates ability to manage a busy and varied caseload.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum Bachelor of Social Work degree from an accredited University to be considered.
- Registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OSWSSW).
- A current satisfactory or "negative" criminal reference check, including a vulnerable sector check.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (required)
Experience:
- Relevant Social Work Experience – 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- OCSWSSW licence/certification (required)
