Onsite Interpreter

SOMALI LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS

Due to our recent expansion, 911 Interpreters is seeking to engage the services of Onsite interpreters.

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education
• Medical Interpreter Certificate is preferred
• Medical/Legal/Educational interpretation experience preferred
• 1 Year of interpretation experience is preferred
• HIPAA certification preferred

Responsibilities:

• Translate a question or request clearly and accurately, conveying phrasing and intention related to the subject.
• Convert dialogue and convey the intent of the original speaker, understanding that many idioms and slang terms do not translate exactly between languages.
• Assimilating words quickly, including jargon and acronyms.
• Building up specialized vocabulary banks.
• Writing notes to aid memory.
• Preparing and submitting assignment reports.

Skills:

• An excellent command of the English language.
• A good memory and the ability to learn fast.
• Ability to closely follow client's instructions.
• Skills to interact well with people and work as part of a team.
• Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality on the matters you are interpreting.
• Flexibility to deal calmly with unexpected and difficult situations.
• Reliability, dedication, and commitment to providing superior customer service.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to commute to close locations.
