Job description

The Riverside Family Medicine Clinic has been serving patients in the greater Trail area since 1994. Our team of clinicians and MOAs prides itself on quality care for our patients. We have developed a strong sense of a working family and this has drawn people to work at our clinic. We have been growing and are now at a size of 8 clinicians (6 doctors, 2 nurse practitioners). As part of the Primary Care Network we have integrated Interior Health staff including a registered nurse, social worker, physical therapist, pharmacist, dietician, aboriginal coordinator, and respiratory therapist. Our goal is to continue to provide exceptional care to our patients, to continue strengthening our Riverside team, and to successfully continue to integrate interprofessional care.

Clinic Manager, Riverside Family Medicine

Geographic Location

304-1101 Dewdney Ave, Trail BC. Onsite work required.

Hours and Compensation

30-40 hrs per week, Monday-Friday. Wage $30-$40

Job Description/Responsibilities

  1. Human Resources:
    *Staff hiring, orientation, training, performance reviews and termination if necessary. Liaise with Medical Director to optimize clinic function
    *Ensure compliance with human resource laws
    *Support MOAs to excel in their roles. Should be able to take over each MOA role as required
    *Support clinicians to effectively do their clinical work
    *Orientation of new staff and clinicians
    *Organize staff Christmas party and coordinate birthday and baby celebrations
    *Assist in recruitment of locum clinicians when needed
  2. Policies and Procedures:
    *Implement office policies and procedures. When needed, develop policies and procedures with the Medical Director
    *Maintain steady workflow and uninterrupted patient services
    *In consultation with Medical Director, ensure compliance with BC College Of Physicians and Surgeons Guidelines and Standards
    *Support Physician Cost Sharing Agreement
    *Manage IH contracts held for in clinic PCN positions
  3. Financial:
    *Review annual expenditures
    *Oversee accounting, billing and payroll procedures
    *Provide financial updates at clinician meetings
    *Help to ensure reasonable overhead for partners and fair wages for staff
    *Manage contracts and negotiations with office vendors and service providers including cleaning staff, IT support and emergency maintenance services
  4. Scheduling:
    *Ensure adequate staff and clinicians to meet the needs of our patients
    *Oversee staff hours and vacation schedules
    *Oversee clinician hours and vacation schedules
    *Oversee learner schedules and ensure adequate space
  5. Communications:
    a) Internal:
    *Organize and run meetings for clinicians and for full office staff. Develop agendas, distribute minutes, follow up on action items
    *Serve as main point of contact between MOAs and clinicians
    b) External:
    *Manage patient complaints/concerns
    *Oversee website
    *Develop/maintain partnerships with: Divisions of Family Practice, Profile, Primary Care Network, Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, Strata, Lab etc
  6. Information Technology:
    *Oversee maintenance and optimization of EMR.
    *Ensure maintenance of hardware
    *Help integrate new technologies into provision of patient care
  7. Equipment/Office Space:
    *Ensure appropriate physical environment for staff and patient care
    *Ensure adequate supplies
  8. Quality Improvement:
    *Develop and carry out quality improvement cycles
  9. Primary Care Network Integration:
    *Lead change management
    *In conjunction with team, visioning new opportunities and directions to continue to improve patient care
  10. Support Healthy Culture:
    *Maintain a calm, safe and respectful working environment
    *Promote culture of excellence, learning and quality
    *Service oriented towards patient care

  2. Education/Experience:
    *Human resource experience (required)
    *Knowledge of medical office procedures (required)
    *Familiarity with electronic medical records (preferred)

Hours and Compensation:
*30-40 hours a week, Monday - Friday
*Expectation to meet occasionally outside of regular office hours, ex. evening clinician meetings

*Vacation 3 weeks per year
*Wage negotiated based on education and experience. Suggested range $30-$40 per hour.
