Recruitment Incentives

Successful Candidates may be eligible for a $10,000 lump sum payment upon signing, subject to a two (2) year Return of Service agreement. Eligibility criteria are determined by Incentive Policy.

The Occupational Therapist works under the supervision of the Manager. The Occupational Therapist (OT) works in collaboration with the client, caregivers and family to facilitate, restore and/or maintain the patient/client's optimal level of function in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. The OT provides consultation, assessment, treatment, evaluation and follow-up while working within the hospital, the client's home and/or their community. The OT, in collaboration with the client, establishes individualized treatment plans and goals, independently manages a busy caseload, and uses clinical judgement and decision-making skills to prioritize issues on a daily basis. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are required. The OT provides education and support to clients, families and caregivers. The OT functions as both a member of an occupational therapy clinical team and a multidisciplinary hospital and/or community healthcare team. The OT contributes to the clinical education of OT students and related health disciplines and for supervision of OT Assistants.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

• Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
• Licensure with the provincial regulatory body, the College of Occupational Therapists of Nova Scotia, is mandatory.
• BLS-C
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate education programs and interact positively with patients/clients, families, other health care providers and staff
• Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while effectively planning, organizing, and supervising
• Ability to be flexible and adjust to the changing needs of the service and the program/facility
• Must be able to work alone or with team members in all service settings
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours

• Permanent, Part-time (20%) position; 15 hours bi-weekly
• This position involves Community Based OT home visits
• The on-site location is Hip and Knee Clinic, Churchill Drive.

Compensation and Benefits

$33.97 - $44.39 Hourly
