OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH and SAFETY Specialist
8:00 am to 5:00 pm (with flexibility on hours)

As a key person on our Safety Team, you will be involved in leading and driving our Health and Safety programs. You will be an active contributor on the floor who is dedicated and committed.
This is a part-time position, with an expectation of 20 hours per week to start. This is a new position, so we expect it will be evolving over time as the needs change. There is some flexibility in picking the hours of work, which will typically be during the day. There is a possibility of some remote/from home work.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Health and Safety Leadership at the plant.
- Participate in and support the plant Safety Committee.
- Prepare or assist in any documentation required for any OH&S systems.
- Report on accidents, providing meaningful analysis to assist in continuously improving the workplace, health, safety, and loss control.
- Attend and participate in external and internal on-site audits and follow up to completion on any issued orders.
- Coordinate return to work programs as required.
- Maintain any Health, Safety, and Environmental bulletin boards as needed.
- Work with external contractors as required to increase Safety awareness.
- Help with and coordinate any environmental reporting requirements or issues as needed.
Qualifications - You ARE / HAVE:
- Some formal Health and Safety Training.
- Solid working knowledge and experience in health, safety & environmental regulations and related principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of warehouse and manufacturing principles and equipment.
- Able to conduct training sessions or programs.
- Able to establish priorities and meet firm deadlines, while maintaining appropriate levels of confidentiality.
- Be a good communicator who can listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Committed to Safety and Quality.
- Be proficient in Microsoft office and able to generate documents as required.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
