Status: Full-time / Temporary until June 30th

Reports to: Nursery Supervisor

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual who displays strong attention to detail, has excellent organizational skills and can maintain a positive, professional attitude in a fast-paced and changing work environment. The Nursery Technician will work closely with the shift lead and supervisor to complete all daily tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Technician must be prepared to care for and maintain a number of clones;
  • Assess the temperature and humidity of the clone room throughout the day;
  • Ensure all lights on all carts and tables are working, and report to shift lead/supervisor when they are not;
  • Participate in a 2-5 minute morning chat with the Prop Shift Lead and teammates;
  • Perform the water check to make accurate watering calls;
  • Follow the SOP's and work instructions for watering, cloning, root picks, and plug soaking;
  • Perform frequency cleanings throughout the day (sweeping, mopping and table sanitizing) and complete cleaning room checklist at the end of the day;
  • Take concerns or ideas to team lead or supervisor;
  • Report hazard observations or safety concerns to shift lead or supervisor;
  • Share information with new employees on all SOP's and work instructions pertaining to Propagation;
  • Able to mix nutrient solution for watering as well as adjust pH;
  • Report any equipment issues to shift lead/supervisor;
  • Complete plant inventory for Mineral Clone Room 1 and 2 and Pod 5;
  • Ability to complete Fall Arrest and Lift Training courses;
  • Assist other Nursery departments when required.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to take directions;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player;
  • Ability to demonstrate good communication skills;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs;
  • Ability to meet physical demands such as reaching, bending, walking, standing and performing repetitive work;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced facility;
  • Comfortable working in adverse conditions (e.g., height, heat, high intensity lighting, strong smell);
  • Organized and clean;
  • Enjoys working with plants or has experience working in a horticultural field;
  • Other duties as may be required;
  • Fall arrest training would be considered an asset;
  • Must be in good standing to be considered.
