The Rutland Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC) will focus on providing urgent and primary care to both attached and unattached patients in the Central Okanagan Primary Care Network (PCN). The UPCC provides urgent care for patients with non-life-threatening injuries, illnesses, and conditions that should be addressed within 12 to 24 hours but do not require the service and expertise of a hospital emergency department (CTAS 3,4,5). This position collaboratively works with GPs and NPs.

The UPCC will operate 7 days per week, year-round, 0900-2100. Shift rotation hours will be confirmed upon hire. The shifts are rotating, with one weekend scheduled per month. The hours are day shifts and evening shifts, including statutory holidays, as applicable.

The ideal candidate combines current or recent experience in primary care along with urgent or emergent care.

Salary Range: Salary range for the position is $74.74/hour - $82.21/hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

1. Diagnosis and Treatment: Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.
2. Care Management: Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
3. Patient Communication: Establish care priorities, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.
4. Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
5. Prescribing Medication: Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.
6. Leadership and Supervision: Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.
7. Research and Innovation: Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
8. Health Promotion: Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well-being.

12. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.
13. Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.
