Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview

Under the general supervision of, and in collaboration with the Shared Health Manager, Health Services Critical Care/site Director Critical Care and the Shared Health Coordinator Critical Care Education, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Educational program development for:
    • Nursing staff including R.N.s
    • Support staff including U.A.s, N.A.s, U.C.s and/or applicable technicians.
  • Teaching and learning activities.
  • Nursing practice standards.
  • Patient education development.
  • Professional and Self Development.

Experience

Note: The priority and percentages of each of the above functions will vary throughout the year and possibly from year to year.

  • Must have a minimum of four years recent (within the last 2 years) clinical experience in Critical Care Nursing/Intensive Care required.
  • Recent teaching experience (e.g. facilitating for an educational institution, delivering in-services to inter professionals in a clinical setting, teaching formalized education programs, and/or other similar recognized adult teaching experience) required.
  • Experience in planning, developing and evaluating educational programs preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
  • Master's of Nursing preferred.
  • Graduate of post-basic course in Intensive Care Nursing or recognized equivalent required.
  • Advanced preparation in Adult Education preferred.
  • CNA certification in critical care preferred.
  • Competency with word processing and presentation programs, required.

Certification/Licensure/Registration

  • Must be currently registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare provider course required, instructor level preferred.
  • Provider Level ACLS registration required.
  • Instructor Level ACLS preferred.

  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in complex situations.
  • Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.
  • Initiates and supports change.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
