NIGHT AUDITOR - Part Time

Description of the position

The main task of the night auditor is the verification of the commercial transactions done during the business day in order to balance the accounts and the deposit. At the same time, the auditor is also responsible for all front desk related tasks during the night shift: welcoming guests, proceeding to the guests’ check-ins and check-outs, responding to requests and coordinating the hotel activities throughout the night, taking reservations, giving information about the hotel and its services, providing information about the city and the touristic activities of the region, and ensuring proper communication between the departments. The night auditor must also handle first level complaints.

Availability and flexibility, rigour and team spirit are all prerequisite criteria for a night auditor. It is essential to have an acute sense of details and great relational skills for contact with the clientele. Working alone or in a small team, the night auditor must show initiative and must be able to work under pressure.

The night auditor position requires working weekends or holidays (can include day and/or evening shifts for a part-time auditor). The work schedule can vary according to the occupancy level of the hotel and the season.

Responsibilities

  1. Complete all the accounting tasks of the night audit.
  2. Verify and correct the daily transactions, update and print the guest hotel bill.
  3. Sort the daily transactions and produce the daily reports.
  4. Balance the accounts and close the business day for the front desk and the bar.
  5. Produce the daily revenue report.
  6. Answer the phone and transfer calls.
  7. Take reservations and proceed to the check-ins and check-outs of guests.
  8. Deal with guests’ complaints.
  9. Respond promptly and efficiently to guests’ requests and requests from other departments (sales, front desk, banquets, maintenance, etc.).
  10. All other tasks related to the front desk.

  9. Be able to lift weights of 5lbs (25kg) and more.

Requirements (experience)

  1. Bilingual spoken and written (French and English). (Prerequisite)
  2. 1 year experience as a front desk agent. (Prerequisite)
  3. Must be able to work on changing schedules (availability Friday, Saturday and Sunday night). (Prerequisite)
  4. Knowledgeable with computer and new technologies. (Prerequisite)
  5. Basic accounting knowledge.
  6. Knowledgeable about the touristic attractions and aspects of Montreal.
  7. Security experience encouraged.
  8. Previous experience as a night auditor is an asset.
