Job description

We are seeking a team-oriented and highly skilled Neurosurgeon for a general community practice, with a heavy portion of spine surgery at Royal Inland Hospital in beautiful Kamloops.

The Royal Inland Hospital deals with approximately two thirds of the severe traumatology encountered in the Interior of British Columbia, including both cranial and spinal trauma. Pediatric and cerebrovascular neurosurgery, as well as more complex skull base neurosurgery, are currently handled by quaternary centres in Vancouver (BC Children's and Vancouver General Hospital).

Currently, the neurosurgical service is enjoying access to a new operating room, opened in the summer of 2022. Available are: 2 Stryker neuronavigation systems with cranial and spinal software for each, 2 updated operative microscopes with capacity to use 5-ALA, and sets for trans-sphenoidal pituitary surgery.

Candidates would join a group of 5 full-time neurosurgeons sharing access to 5 to 7 elective OR days per week. Access to elective OR time is a function of call coverage.

RIH is affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine. Our surgeons are involved in teaching medical students and residents.
