Network Administrator
Reporting to the IT Director, the Network Administrator would be responsible for providing wide ranging, day-to-day network and end user support. In addition, the Network Administrator would work closely with the IT Director to provide essential back up support and would be involved in any projects as required.
The Network Administrator’s role is to ensure the stable operation of the network. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communication links. This person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
- Manage security solutions, including firewall and anti-virus.
- Manage all network hardware and equipment, including servers, workstations, routers, switches, and UPSs.
- Ensure network connectivity of all workstations.
- Administer all equipment, hardware and software upgrades.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
- Perform server and security audits.
- Perform system backups and recovery.
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Provide a single point of contact for end users to receive support and maintenance.

Required Education, Skills, Competences and Experience:
- Post high school degree or diploma preferred with industry specific certifications or course completions.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Network hardware, software, protocols and standards.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with Windows, MS Office and other popular software programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with desktop hardware.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service including positive, service oriented, proactive behaviour.
- Managing and organizing of own workload, setting priorities and delivering promised support within expected timelines, seeking advice and guidance from the IT Director, as required.
- Ability to work well without supervision to deliver expected results.
- Proficient with documentation and following policies and procedures.
