Reporting to the Head of Operations, theNational Manager, Health, Safety & Environment is responsible for the assessment and mitigation of health and safety related risk across the organization. The incumbent collaborates with the cross-functional management team to integrate environmental health and safety into all strategies, activities, and decision-making processes across all locations and facilities. The National Manager actively promotes a philosophy of sound environmental health and safety practices in the workplace, by providing leadership and direction in the design, development and implementation of environmental health and safety programs, processes and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strategic Health and safety plan for East Penn Canada
  • Create, implement and communicate policies and procedures and ensure alignment with the leadership team, branch network and local network
  • Oversee the management of post-incident requirements
  • Manage the provision of a healthy and safe workplace environment for all employees, customers, visitors and service providers at East Penn locations across Canada
  • Collect, monitor, and analyze health and safety trends, and identify negative trends and investigating their root cause
  • Ensure companywide compliance to all H&S related legislation and related internal policies and procedures
  • Develop, build and maintain health and safety training programs that reflect the Company’s policies, SOP’s, government regulations and industry standards
  • Six (6+) plus years’ in a health and safety role, preferably in a warehousing / logistics, and transportation environment
  • Completion of Post-Secondary education, preferably in a science or engineering discipline
  • CRSP Health and Safety designation (completed or in progress)
  • Experience with handling and transportation of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) / Hazardous Materials an asset
  • Leadership experience with a strong ability to build relationships and collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with health and safety legislation / regulations in multiple provinces and across borders
  • Bilingual (English-French) an asset to support our Quebec locations
  • On an occasional basis, travel across Canada to branch locations as needed
  • Background checks including criminal checks & employment references be requested
