We are seeking a talented individual to join our Marsh Advisory team at Marsh as the National Leader, Forensic Accounting Claims Services (FACS), Canada.

This role will be based in Toronto. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office. Candidates in Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver may also be considered.

This consulting position will be responsible for managing the national team, complex client engagements, as well as leading growth and engagement in Canada while collaborating with a larger global team. It will require effective delivery or proposal of valued services for clients and prospects. Engagements might generally entail insurance loss measurement and claims preparation services, as well as expert forensic accounting assistance for financial investigations to quantify damages resulting from catastrophic events, litigation or disputes.

We will count on you to:

  1. Drive national strategy for the Forensic Accounting Claims Services practice, ensuring alignment with overall Marsh Advisory and Marsh Canada business objectives.
  2. Lead national initiatives to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency across all regions.
  3. Develop and implement national marketing strategies to promote FACS services and expand client base.
  4. Lead proposal response initiatives and national business development efforts, anticipating the long-term, multi-functional impact of all decisions to manage all aspects of consulting engagements.
  5. Apply engagement economics; monitor certain financial aspects of engagements and set engagement billing/pricing in consultation with consulting leadership to drive projects.
  6. Take a long-range, broad approach to problem-solving and decision-making by analyzing and planning ahead to increase efficiency of practice.
  7. Co-operate with other firm practice units and use an interdisciplinary approach to cross-sell and identify client opportunities across service lines and industries.
  8. Lead, mentor, and support team members/peers in meeting expectations to promote a working-learning environment and foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  9. Manage the P&L in order to grow the book and ensure profitability and sustainable growth, setting and monitoring financial targets for the national team.
  10. Manage and expand relationships with key national clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  11. Serve as a senior advisor on large, complex national engagements, providing strategic oversight and direction.
  12. Conduct regular talent reviews and succession planning for the national team, providing candid, timely, and constructive feedback/appraisals.
  13. Develop and leverage relationships with senior leaders across the organization to enhance service offerings and drive business development.
  14. Apply knowledge of financial damages and measures of lost profits to develop financial models to assist clients in the preparation of losses in either an insurance or litigation context.

What you need to have:

  1. Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Statistics or Economics.
  2. CPA, CBV, CFA, CFE designations - one or more, or in process of obtaining.
  3. 10+ years familiarity with general accounting and finance terms and concepts, as well as with income statements, profit and loss statements, and other common financial documentation.
  4. Minimum 5+ years of relevant professional experience in providing litigation support, insurance claims, investigations and forensic accounting services is required.
  5. Ability to synthesize and analyze large data sets and complex business models across diverse industry sectors and create work products that can be readily digested and scrutinized.
  6. Ability to communicate complex analysis to clients, attorneys, and other senior stakeholders, with strong written and verbal communication skills to enable strong business-level conversations in adversarial settings of litigation and dispute resolution.
  7. Ability to project manage engagements, participate actively in client discussions, and contribute to the practice in driving superior results for our clients.
  8. Willingness to take the initiative to develop deep industry expertise in key industry sectors (Energy, Mining, Financial Services, Healthcare, Technology, Communications) and help drive wider practice initiatives in the adoption of technology and increased operational efficiency.
  9. Willingness to travel nationally as needed to meet with clients and support regional teams.
  10. Advanced level of proficiency with MS Excel (including VBA or PowerQuery), skills in SQL or other database experience is a plus, visualization/analytics applications is a plus.
  11. Strong project management skills – ability to identify, collect, and organize data needed for all projects, and ability to coordinate with brokers, account teams, and other teams in the Analytics and Consulting Practice.
  12. Quebec Residents: In accordance with Bill 96, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both English and French, as this role requires effective communication with our bilingual clientele.

  6. Experience with building financial models – examples include projecting revenues, creating pro-forma operating results, and non-traditional enterprise risk modeling.
  7. Experience addressing fraud and corruption investigations would be a plus, combined with strong problem-solving ability.
  8. Knowledge of commercial insurance programs – including mainstream property policies and ideally specialty insurance (examples include Cyber, Product Recall, Fidelity and Stock Throughput).
