The Music Teacher is responsible for the delivery of direct classroom music programming for each class, morning and afternoon, at both Pacekids Early Childhood Services (ECS) school locations. The Music Teacher works on an interdisciplinary team with other ECS teachers, therapists, and Classroom Therapy Aides (CTAs) to plan and implement creative, developmentally appropriate music programming that meets the unique needs of the children in our classrooms.

- Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 4:15pm
- Temporary School Year Contract, August 2024-June 2025

Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans for the in-class component of the music program, linking lessons to classroom learnings and themes where appropriate
- Plan, prepare and facilitate weekly online child and family music programming, including planning for and supporting the packing of individual enrichment programming supplies
- Is familiar with the Fine Arts requirements in the Alberta Kindergarten Curriculum, and can create links between required learning outcomes and their lessons
- Support Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals by collecting data and ensuring that they are carried out appropriately and effectively by members of the classroom team, while in music programming (i.e. Classroom Therapy Aides - CTAs) as applicable
- Make referrals to appropriate therapists for classroom consultation and follow through with therapists’ recommendations and strategies as applicable
- Complete IPP documentation and end-of-year reporting, as required
- Consult and connect with management, therapy teams, and classroom teams to review, brainstorm and implement strategies and ideas
- Attend team theme-planning meetings and case conferences, as able
- Provide leadership and coaching to ensure team cohesiveness
- Develop and facilitate staff training and education sessions on Professional Development days
What You Bring
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C certification
- Current clearance from a Criminal Record check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, and Child Intervention Check.
- Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
- A deep understanding of special education, and works comfortably with early learners from ages 2 ½ to 6 years
- Experience in adapting physical education programs for young children with diverse abilities, including knowledge of developmental milestones, and skills in creating inclusive and supportive environments
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and staff
- Strong communication, leadership, time management and organizational skills
