About Us

Cigar Lake, located in northern Saskatchewan, is the world’s highest-grade uranium mine. The uranium produced at Cigar Lake is used for nuclear fuel products, which utilities around the world rely on to generate safe, reliable, emissions-free nuclear power. Cameco is one of the largest global providers of the uranium fuel needed to energize a clean-air world.

The Role

As part of the Mine Operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining the essential underground infrastructure that ensures the safe and efficient operation of our mining processes. Daily tasks include operation of the UG batch plant, mobile equipment operation, sump maintenance, and the installation/modification of piping to transfer water, solids, and compressed air. Your duties will require you to work with various groups, including the Mining, Maintenance, Process, and Engineering departments.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintain underground dewatering infrastructure, including pumping slimes and mine water
  • Install and monitor underground dewatering services and sumps
  • Perform underground construction work, including concrete pumping
  • Prepare shotcrete batches
  • Aid maintenance workers with equipment preparation

Required:

  • Minimum grade twelve diploma or equivalent
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience with pipe installation, underground sump maintenance, pipeline pigging, installation of submersible pumps, bulkhead construction.
  • Team player with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision as required
  • Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft

Recommended:

  • Underground Supervisor Certification
  • Previous experience with underground mining
  • Previous Supervisor or Lead Hand experience

Safety Sensitive Site

Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN).

The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and operates on a two week on/two week off rotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
