Reporting to the UG Mine Engineering Coordinator, you will be part of the Mine Engineering Department. The incumbent will be tasked with a variety of technical responsibilities, including survey, ventilation, design, and ground control. Given the remote location and scale of the operations, they may be required to broaden their scope of responsibilities and demonstrate proficiency and autonomy in relevant areas. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Participate to the daily tasks within the Engineering team, such as data compilation and validation, daily production reports;
  • Install laser and survey stations, complete regular survey of all underground development headings and produce a bi-monthly reconciliation of the mine development meters;
  • Perform task observations for ground support installation. Provide support and training to miners miners;
  • Perform ground conditions inspections and report findings to mine engineers;
  • Create ground support layouts for secondary support and rehabilitation with input from mine engineers;
  • Create and modify various CAD drawings (lateral development, Drill & Blast, construction, ground control, backfill, etc.);
  • Support & assist the mine planners in the level design process, and collect the feedback and improvement opportunities from the stakeholders;
  • Take accurate ventilation readings of underground workings;
  • Prepare the ventilation survey report and pro-actively investigate anomalies;
  • Perform tasks related to the supply management, forecast, and ordering of inventory for the sealift season.
  • Develop and contribute to the development of standardized work procedures;
  • Promote Health and Safety by participating in Departmental Health & Safety oriented activities.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Minimum 1 year of experience at an operational underground mine;
  • Member of a Canadian Engineering society and eligible to NAPEG membership;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team;
  • Experience in one or more of the following is advantageous, Underground Survey, Mine Design and Drafting, Underground Ventilation, or Underground Ground Control
  • Expertise with survey equipment is an asset (total station, GPS, CMS, Drone & rover);
  • Expertise with mine Design Software is an asset (Deswik);
  • Possess strong communication skills to be able to effectively liaise across multiple departments;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 21 days of work, followed by 21 days for transportation and rest;flights departing from Edmonton, AB and Yellowknife, NWT;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
