Job Description - Mill Maintenance Planner (14472)
MILL MAINTENANCE PLANNER
Reporting to the Mill Chief Planner, the Mill Planner will be responsible to develop, implement, coordinate, and oversee the mechanical maintenance and projects plans and schedules for the Cote Gold project. The incumbent will incorporate fixed asset strategies and enhance planning processes to improve service quality, data accuracy, efficiency, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1:
- Develop mechanical maintenance plans.
- Plan and release work orders (task list, SOPs, permits, resourcing, materials, tools, equipment, costs, preliminary work, scheduling date).
- Develop work packages that clearly identify task conditions, constraints, hazard controls, permits, labor, equipment, materials, specialized tools, services, test and handover procedures, durations, sequencing, and timing.
- Contributes to shutdown project work packages that include the proper identification of shutdown scope and coordinate to determine important shutdown schedule milestones.
- Maintain a healthy fixed plant maintenance backlog with two (2) to four (4) workweeks of ready to schedule jobs.
- Record maintenance activities and verify that data from completed work packages is accurately captured using CoteGold's CMMS (Oracle eAM) in order to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Address any associated planning issues, such as operational requirements, parts availability, equipment deficiencies, inadequate work procedures, and data accuracy.
- Update PM requirements with feedback from supervisor and crews and data from completed work orders.
- Seek ways to improve work package requirements and minimize costs without sacrificing safety or quality.
- Perform worksite inspections and safe work observations; participate in and lead investigations.
- Lead fixed plant maintenance planning meetings to review and prioritize PMs, corrective, shutdown, and project work orders for planning.
Area 2:
Operational excellence.
- Complies with established IAMGOLD asset management process and quality standard.
- Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes.
- Offer new approaches, methods, or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
- Seek for inefficiencies or problems by being proactive and solution driven to implement operational improvements in the maintenance planning department and ensure they are shared with others.
- Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures for the mill planning & scheduling department.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement to improve your skills as a Mill Senior Planner.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk among the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, and cost).
- Review the daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs performance against the maintenance plan and report non-conformances related to the targets.
- Understand and recalibrate non-conformances to the plan and KPI targets and develop mitigating/corrective actions to achieve the longer-term plan.
- Participate in the budgeting process, using system data, in a zero-based approach.
- Prepare forecasts for future maintenance activities on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
- Ensure that equipment maintenance records and bills of materials are up to date and accurate.
Area 3:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver on the maintenance plan.
- Coordinate with the reliability personnel, the development of reliability and maintenance strategies for critical equipment.
- Liaise with technical departments to minimize impacts of production and maintenance delays.
- Provide and support communication links between production, maintenance, technical services, and operations employees.
- Understand production plans and mill maintenance activities and collaborate closely with other shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in preparing and coordinating maintenance activities.
- Support the negotiation of various services and maintenance contracts.
- Work, share and exchange with supervisors, mechanics as well as other members of the maintenance team.
- Communicate with maintenance trades, engineers, and supervisors to ensure timely feedback is provided, received, and implemented.
- Facilitate outsourced maintenance repair requests with field employees and management.
- Facilitate and participate in the weekly multi-disciplinary scheduling meetings.
- Communicate and coordinate with supply chain partners to ensure efficient collaboration between both department and items arrive as scheduled.
- During the construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning phases, support the implementation of the maintenance system.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow-up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
- Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
- Between 0 and 3 years of experience with processing plant maintenance or asset management.
- Professional work experience with maintenance work routines, mechanical, welding, or electrical experience would be considered an asset.
- Passionate to learn about maintenance planning and scheduling best practices.
- Highly organized with great attention to detail.
- Good time management and interpersonal skills.
- Exercises judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Products – Word, Project, Excel & Power Point.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven communication skills, both verbal, written, and non-verbal.
- Self-motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strives for continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions under pressure.
- Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems.
