Job description

Disease detection through smell? That’s right. With every breath, we release a health snapshot right into the air. This is the body’s hidden language, and up until now, it’s gone unnoticed. We're changing that. Inspired by nature and with a boost from NASA, we’ve developed the world’s first fully-integrated diagnostic breathalyzer. It’s capable of decoding these health signals in real-time and at any point-of-care. We’re bringing the sense of smell to the forefront of medicine and welcoming a new era of healthcare. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of medical device technology, contributing to innovative diagnostic solutions. The ideal candidate will blend technical expertise with a passion for quality and reliability in healthcare technology.

Here’s exactly who thrives at Noze:

  • Aligned. This is the place for go-getters who are ambitious. We value visionaries who are all in for exponential growth and committed to making a big impact.
  • Collaborative. We believe success is a team sport. Our people thrive on collaboration, embrace feedback, and are committed to continuous improvement.
  • Driven. We're not the kind to wait for directions—we take the initiative and push projects forward. We are high performers who are proactive, own their work, and consistently strive for excellence.

Who You Are:

As a passionate and skilled Microfluidic Systems Engineer at Noze, you’ll help usher in a new era of breath-based diagnostics by designing and developing robust, novel thin-film integrated microfluidic systems that power our DiagNoze platform. As an ideal candidate, you will have hands-on experience in both the design and development of microfluidic systems, including the integration of thin-film technologies, and a strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system performance. You will drive the development of cutting-edge products that digitize the sense of smell, contributing to a transformative shift in diagnostic technology.

Your expertise in microfluidic systems and analytical thinking enables holistic system development, while your creativity drives innovative and data-driven solutions. Your commitment to meticulous design, problem-solving, and continuous innovation will be crucial in advancing our groundbreaking projects and contributing to the team's success in revolutionizing healthcare technology.

What You'll Do:

As a key member of our sensor team at Noze, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and characterization of advanced microfluidic devices for our digital nose technology. This includes working on our primary sensor technology as well as supporting peripheral systems that enhance the performance and functionality of our devices. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize microfluidic devices and thin film deposition processes for novel applications in silicon-based devices.
  • Design, develop and characterize MEMS based micro hotplates in an integrative manner with the microfluidic device architecture.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate thin films into the microfluidic device architectures and assess their performance in simulated environments.
  • Develop and implement robust characterization protocols to ensure the reliability and durability of thin films under various conditions.
  • Document all experimental protocols and results, analyze data rigorously, and report findings through comprehensive reports and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in thin film technology, MEMS and microfluidics to drive innovation within the company.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in microfluidic technology, MEMS fabrication, thin film process and deposition and characterization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

What we offer:

The opportunity to join a forward-thinking company with a collaborative team of innovative thinkers. A rewarding career path with diverse opportunities for professional growth. A competitive compensation and benefits package, including employer-paid health and dental benefits for eligible employees. A generous learning and development budget for conferences, classes, and other professional development events.
