Responsibilities:
- Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
- Write identification onto plates to track client and sample numbers.
- Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to the analysis process being performed.
- Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin the growth process.
- Collect plates and place them in the incubator for the specified amount of time and temperature.
- Prepare media and broth for use in pathogen testing as required.
- Ensure that media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
- Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
- Read plates and tubes as required to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement processes.
- Perform necessary housekeeping duties in a timely manner, keeping work areas and equipment clean and sanitized.
- Participate in cleaning schedules and maintain retained samples as required.
- Adhere to all safety policies.
- Support laboratory management in the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the management system.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- College/University degree in Microbiology or a related field is required.
- 1+ years of work experience in QC or Lab, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing facility.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
- Must be able to prioritize assigned duties and demonstrate flexibility.
- Excellent analytical laboratory skills, detail-oriented, and good problem-solving skills.
- Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and remain calm under pressure.
Work Time:
- Work on-site in-person as a full-time technician.
