Status: Temporary Full Time (15 months)
Department: Social Work-CYFP

Days and Evenings - 8 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)

Wage Schedule: $44.670 - $57.900 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with a multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker/Mental Health Clinician provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, group psychotherapy, brief individual and family therapy, and discharge planning for children and youth with psychiatric illnesses admitted to the inpatient unit. This position also supports outpatients, carrying a small caseload and facilitating one group per week in that department. As determined by the resource needs, he/she may also provide care in some or all of the following components of the program: urgent care and intensive ambulatory services with consultation with other health care providers. The successful candidate will work effectively with the members of the multi-disciplinary team in establishing and monitoring processes to improve intervention and continuity of care for patients and collaborative relationships with other care providers in the Region. The Social Worker/Mental Health Clinician participates in program and other committees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, Psychotherapy or equivalent is required.
  2. Certification/membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), in good standing, is required;
  3. Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders within a hospital based and or community setting is required.
  4. Minimum of 2 years providing individual, group and family psychotherapy to children and youth with psychiatric illnesses is required.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge of best practice guidelines pertaining to the treatment of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders;
  6. Demonstrated skill in mental health assessment and crisis management;
  7. Proven ability to work effectively with other health care providers and community service and school board providers;
  8. Proven organizational, prioritization and problem-solving abilities;
  9. Proven to have strong interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills;
  10. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area;
  11. Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard;
  12. Must be willing to travel from site to site.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and OPSEU Local 348.

Successful External applicants must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six (6) months.
