Your Opportunity:

We are looking for an energetic and dynamic individual with experience in patient-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-based care to fill the position of a Mental Health Clinician and join our multi-disciplinary Addiction and Mental Health Outreach team in Medicine Hat. This position will work with individuals with complex addiction and mental health issues and will be responsible for the delivery of a continuum of treatment services within all the AMH Outreach programs. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment planning and implementation. This person will be required to perform psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to persons experiencing significant addiction and/or mental health difficulties as needed. The successful candidate will also support clients on Community Treatment Orders and will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and have a demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, and the ability to create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. This person will have the proven ability to coordinate schedules and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Description:

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities. You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews, and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders. You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required. You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Registered Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a master's degree in psychology; a bachelor's degree in social work incorporating education in mental health assessment, brief counseling, and crisis intervention; a master's or bachelor's degree in occupational therapy with similar educational components; a bachelor's degree in nursing with training and experience in mental health assessment, crisis intervention, and brief counseling; or a bachelor's degree in psychiatric nursing. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous experience in a Community Addiction and Mental Health Setting performing addiction and mental health assessments and provision of psychotherapy required. Relevant training in assessment and treatment of addiction and mental health issues is required. The incumbent must have extensive knowledge of Community Treatment Orders and the Mental Health Act. Minimum of 3 years' experience in an Addiction and Mental Health setting performing addiction and mental health assessments required. Proficiency in suicide intervention training and NVCI required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the resources within A&MH & experience with clients with complex addiction & mental health issues. Experience in working collaboratively with allied health professionals, physicians, psychiatrists, and community agencies. Previous outreach experience preferred.
