In collaboration with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, we are seeking a registered social worker or psychotherapist with experience supporting marginalized individuals facing complex life challenges, including mental health issues, addictions, social exclusion, and involvement with the justice system.

As an essential member of our team, you'll provide in-person counseling to clients referred by the Ministry, working within a probation and parole office. Your expertise will help clients overcome challenges, build resilience, and support their recovery and reintegration into society. By improving individual outcomes, reducing recidivism, enhancing public safety, and promoting social inclusion, your work will contribute to healthier and more stable communities.
Here's How
Clinical:
Contacts clients within the required timeframe and according to their assigned risk level, following the established referral and scheduling process.
Meets with individual clients and referral agents to review the counselling process.
Assesses clients, collaboratively sets goals, and establishes strategies to achieve these goals.
Provides short to medium-term counselling to help clients attain their goals.
Offers ongoing clinical support to clients in person, virtually, and telephonically, as appropriate and with proper training.
Refers clients to community or external resources as part of the established plan and acts as a case manager.
Facilitates client contact with external resources, liaising and advocating on their behalf.
Provides written and verbal information on behalf of clients, with their and the referral agent's consent.
Monitors open cases, following up on clients' progress and satisfaction with services.
Administrative:
Consults with the Clinical Director/Supervisor and colleagues regarding counselling cases and related issues.
Responds to calls/emails from referral agents and clients, confirming case assignments and clinical progress with the referral agents.
Follows case booking procedures to ensure confidentiality.
Ensures prompt and timely case closures and documentation.
Ensures that billable/clinical service hours and closed case targets (as applicable) are being met.
Furthers the growth and development of TELUS Health.
Reflects TELUS Health values and promotes TELUS Health services outside of the company.
Complies with TELUS Health policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work or related health field.
Professional College membership in Ontario with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
Minimum two (2) years post-graduate counselling experience;
Professional liability insurance.
Scheduling availability during business hours.
Experience and confidence in working with individuals facing complex issues and challenges, including mental health, addictions, homelessness, social exclusion, domestic violence, anger management, anti-criminal thinking, sexual offenses, and involvement with the justice system and/or social service field.
Proficiency in assessing and treating clients with substance use concerns.
Ability to work with a diverse range of clients presenting a wide variety of issues, with a strong knowledge of local community resources.
Experience with mandated clients is an asset.
