Medical & Scientific Liaison – Oncology

Territory: Ontario/Saskatchewan

The objective of the Medical and Scientific Liaison, by virtue of their training and expertise, is to discuss and provide scientific and therapeutic information to Healthcare Professionals and Researchers viewed by their peers to be authorities in Oncology (Clinical and Scientific Leaders). Medical and Scientific Liaison interaction with their audience is governed by guiding principles intended to deliver unbiased and evidence-based information through in-depth scientific exchange in the therapeutic area of Oncology often leading to knowledge transfer initiatives and research.

Reporting to the Oncology Associate Director, Medical Affairs, the Medical and Scientific Liaison uses exceptionally strong interpersonal skills, especially in the area of one-on-one communication, and a high degree of understanding of oncology and the treatments, to develop and maintain strong scientific working relationships with Clinical Scientific Leaders in oncology with both clinicians and/or basic scientists through the communication of unbiased and evidence based information. The Medical and Scientific Liaison achieves a high level of competency in using Teamsite collaborative platform and manages multiple ongoing projects. The Medical and Scientific Liaison is responsible for managing assigned budgets in order to optimize investment opportunities.

The Medical and Scientific Liaison will ensure his/her interactions fully comply with our company's commitment to our Values and Standards, policies, procedures, industry standards and all laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the company's and the General Mandate and Guiding Principles for Medical and Scientific Liaisons.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Pharmacy degree; Pharm D, PhD Degree in Science or Health Sciences (preferably in related disease area) or MD is required
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of pharmaceutical experience or equivalent preferably involving work with academic specialists and/or community leaders
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in the therapeutic area of Oncology
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and maintain product, disease and competition knowledge
  • Knowledge of therapeutic area (both basic and clinical literature)
  • Strong knowledge of Company policies, procedures, industry standards, as well as laws and regulations
  • Ability to analyze and understand local community of practice
  • Ability to understand and integrate complex scientific concepts (e.g. proteomics, metabolic networks or molecular mechanisms of disease)
  • Basic Knowledge of Company structure, administrative procedures and guidelines
  • Advanced knowledge of Office technology and related software
  • Expert communication (oral & written) and listening skills
  • Advanced Analysis, Planning, Implementation and Control (APIC) skills
  • Advanced negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Advanced project management skills
  • Language requirements: English
  • The candidate must be based in the Greater Toronto area (GTA)
