Job description

argenx is a fast-growing global immunology company committed to improving the lives of people suffering from severe autoimmune diseases. Thanks to colleagues based in Europe, the United States and Japan, we translate immunology breakthroughs into a world-class portfolio of novel antibody-based medicines. For the expansion of our Canadian Medical Affairs team, argenx is looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL).

As an MSL, you will be a field-based extension of the Medical Affairs team, bringing expertise in argenx’s scientific data, products, and clinical trials. Your responsibilities will include building valued and trusted relationships with the healthcare community and acting as a strategic field partner with cross-functional colleagues. In this role, you will consistently embody argenx’ values as a science-driven, patient-centric organization. Your critical tasks will involve understanding the management of diseases of interest, mapping the patient journey, identifying unmet medical needs and data gaps, and sharing insights to enhance patient care. This position reports to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Expert medical resource and argenx ambassador
    • Develop and continuously maintain the highest scientific and medical expertise of all relevant diseases and products, and be acknowledged internally and externally as an expert.
    • Identify and develop productive collaborations with medical experts, and relevant stakeholders.
    • Support and implement field medical plans to advance Medical Affairs strategy.
    • Work cross-functionally to support market access activities and healthcare policy efforts.
    • Maintain a high level of knowledge and appropriately implement current local pharmaceutical regulation and ensure implementation of argenx policies and procedures.
  • Scientific/medical exchange and education, and insight generation
    • Ensure timely and informative scientific/medical exchanges with external stakeholders that accurately reflect scientific data.
    • Deliver high quality scientific/medical education in a variety of settings, including related to diseases of interest, clinical studies, investigational products, and any future licensed products and obtain valuable insights that can be disseminated throughout the organization.
    • Implement Medical Affairs tactics to assess potential new indications, including the treating community, patient pathways, diagnostic practices and management.
    • Coordinate the timely and appropriate response to external Medical Information inquiries.
    • Identify potential high-impact medical research projects and publication opportunities, in line with argenx identified areas of interest.
    • Attend relevant meetings and congresses to gather insights, foster collaborations, engage in scientific exchange, and share insights within argenx.
    • Ensure all external interactions are conducted in accordance with argenx objectives, compliance policies and procedures and established ethical standards.
  • Clinical trial collaboration and support
    • Identify potential investigators and centers for participation in clinical research, support feasibility assessments and site initiation, and develop and maintain productive collaborations.
    • Provide insightful feedback to internal and external stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Cross-functional collaboration
    • Ensure a close working relationship with all argenx functions, including cross-functional field partners.
    • Support cross-functional teams to ensure operations are patient-focused, including rapidly responding to internal and external requests to discuss specific situations and challenges and provide medical affairs support to all stakeholders.

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Medical, pharmaceutical or high-level scientific degree: MD, PharmD, PhD preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as an MSL or similar role within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Clinical experience in neurology, immunology and/or rare diseases is an advantage.
  • Robust knowledge of local regulations and practices related to industry interactions with Canadian healthcare professionals.
  • Bilingual in both French & English.
  • Reside in Ontario or Quebec, with approximately 50% travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.
