Job description

The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for Central Community Health Centre (CCHC) and ensures the efficient and effective operations of the reception area(s), ensures a professional presence is presented to all who visit or deal with the CCHC, ensures clients and other visitors feel welcome, safe and comfortable while visiting, and acts as a customer service contact for all team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Greets in a friendly and professional manner all clients and other visitors, in person and on the telephone and directs them to the appropriate team members.
  • Promotes CCHC, informing clients and community members of available services and programs.
  • Maintains client records, manually and/or electronically.
  • Receives incoming mail, coordinates distribution, and processes outgoing mail.
  • Opens and closes Centre daily, ensuring the security of the buildings and premises.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years’ customer service experience.
  • Three years’ office experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and various software applications and office equipment.
  • Experience with reporting software required by OH and MOHLTC is an asset.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, to always maintain a professional attitude, to respond in a positive way to demanding issues, and to project a welcoming, friendly personality.
  • A second language is an asset.
  • Experience working with clients who have experienced trauma is an asset.
