The Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) performs routine x-rays and electrocardiograms. The MRT provides aid to the Physician/Nurse Practitioner in the diagnosis and treatment of clients and cooperates with the Senior Medical Radiation Technologist and other members of the health care team in solving problems and providing quality care and services to clients.

Skills And Qualifications Required

  • Graduate of an approved school of Medical Radiation Technology
  • Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO)
  • Experience in electrocardiogram, considered an asset
  • Experience with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) practices and procedures, an asset
  • Experience working with elderly clients and individuals with a variety of disabilities, considered an asset

Position Responsibilities

  • Operates Diagnostic Imaging Department to meet Healing Arts Protection Act and the Ontario X-ray Safety Code Standards
  • Obtains routine x-rays and electrocardiograms on in-patients, outpatients and staff
  • Reviews results and troubleshoots problems with reports before distribution and the subsequent distribution of test results to physicians
  • Advises physicians on appropriate testing when requested
  • Maintains equipment and inventory
