The Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Calgary is seeking applications for a combined Medical Oncology & Research Fellow, based at the University of Calgary and the Tom Baker Cancer Centre/Arthur JE Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

Job Description:

The Oncology Outcomes (O2) and Precision Oncology and Experimental Therapeutics (POET) programs are recruiting one full-time medical oncology clinical and research fellow, under the supervision of Dr. Winson Cheung and Dr. Steven Yip at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre/Arthur JE Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Construction of our new Calgary Cancer Centre is currently underway with a vision to become the largest Canadian cancer centre of excellence by 2024. The O2 and POET programs are world renowned for their work in real world outcomes cancer research and precision oncology research.

The funded fellowship position may be 1-2 years with a clinical focus in genitourinary cancers and research focus on undertaking real world evidence projects utilising the wealth of databases housed at the centre. There will also be the opportunity to be exposed to trial protocol development and possible involvement in late phase clinical trials. Our fellows are selected by a competitive process. A review committee selects the fellows for both clinical and research positions. International applicants are welcome.

Qualifications:

In addition to a recognized medical degree and a valid Alberta medical practice permit, the ideal candidate has completed clinical training in medical oncology (preferable within 5 years) and has clear research aims that they want to further develop with the resources available in Calgary. This scholarship aims to foster critical thinkers within medical oncology that can be future national leaders in the field.
