Job Type: Full-Time - Includes days, evenings, and weekends

Job Location: Edmonton North - Multiple clinics

Reports to: Clinic Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Medical Office Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to our patients, as well as providing support to physicians and medical staff.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Answering phones, greeting, and registering patients
  2. Responding to patient enquiries in person and by phone
  3. Initiating forms and collecting payment for services not covered by insurance
  4. Escorting patients to exam or treatment rooms and preparing patients for physician
  5. Cleaning and preparing exam and treatment rooms between patient visits
  6. Performing diagnostic testing as ordered by the physician including urinalysis
  7. Performing blood pressure readings (using automated BP monitor), temperature readings, height and weight measurements as ordered by the physician
  8. Scheduling and notifying patients of appointments
  9. Scanning patient documents into electronic medical records as required
  10. Completing daily, monthly and weekly chore lists as required
  11. Performing other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Medical Office Assistant Qualification is an asset
  3. Recent customer service experience
  4. Experience with Med Access or Electronic Medical Records
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  6. Problem-solving skills
  7. Proficiency in medical terminology is an asset
  8. Must be able to handle confidential information in compliance with the Health Information Act
