Pathology and Laboratory Medicine - Anatomical (Surgical) Pathology

Applications are invited for a Medical Laboratory Technologist position in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine – Anatomical (Surgical) Pathology Laboratory. Assignments may include, but are not limited to; Microtomy, Special Staining, Routine Processing, Decalcification, Frozen Sectioning, Biopsy Gross Dissectioning, & Screening and Interpreting Cytology slides. Staff in the Anatomical (Surgical) Pathology Laboratory may be assigned to London Health Sciences Centre (University Hospital, Victoria Hospital) and St. Joseph’s Health Care as required. This position requires the incumbent to be available to work shifts and on call.

Qualifications

  • Current registration or eligible as a Medical Laboratory Technologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario with authorization to practice relevant specialties in Laboratory Medicine
  • Certification with C.S.M.L.S or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge on Dual trained Cytology - Histology (Preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform Microtomy
  • Ability to work 24/7 shifts
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated accuracy and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) as well as conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate, develop and maintain effective relationships within healthcare teams
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, purpose and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
