Calian is proud to continue a long-standing contractual relationship with the Department of National Defence (DND) to provide healthcare services to the Canadian Armed Forces. Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.

Position Overview

Calian is currently seeking Medical Device Reprocessing Technicians to work at the CFB Trenton dental clinic. The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician functions as a crucial member of the dental health care team.

Clinic hours: 7:15am – 3:45pm, no evenings, no weekends, closed all provincial stat holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Reprocessing reusable medical devices, equipment, and supplies used in the dental clinic, including but not limited to receiving, disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, testing, packaging, labeling, monitoring, sterilizing, and storing, in accordance with all current and relevant policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Performing biological / chemical indicator and other quality assurance testing, promptly responding to unfavorable results by reporting problems to the appropriate party
  • Initiating recall and/or troubleshooting for any defective or noncompliant equipment
  • Releasing sterilized loads based on quality assurance testing results and process parameters.
  • Documenting and reporting on activities within the MDR area, including tracking and labelling as needed, as well as ensuring inventory is up to date by closely monitoring available equipment and restocking where necessary
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of equipment used to reprocess reusable medical/dental devices, performing required daily, weekly, and monthly user maintenance procedures.
  • Providing clinical leadership, guidance, and applicable training to co-workers pertaining to MDR activities to ensure full compliancy to all relevant policies, procedures, and standards

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a formal Medical Device Reprocessing training program with an accredited college or institution
  • Certified as a Medical Reprocessing Technician through the Canadian Standards Association. NOTE: Candidates who are not currently certified, but who are eligible to write the Canadian Standards Association Certified Medical Reprocessing Technician Personnel exam will also be considered
  • Must be a member with the MDRAO

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
