Job Title: Mechanical Superintendent
Reports To: Equipment Operations Manager

The Mechanical Superintendent is a pivotal role within the organization that is responsible for managing and overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment. This role ensures that all equipment is properly maintained, operational downtime is minimized, and safety standards are adhered to.
Responsibilities

Fleet Management
- Manage a fleet of vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and other specialized machinery.
- Develop and implement strategies for the efficient utilization and deployment of equipment across various projects and operational needs.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, usage, maintenance history, and repairs.
Maintenance And Repair
- Develop and oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure equipment operates efficiently and reliably.
- Coordinate and schedule routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.
- Manage repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
Safety And Compliance
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, manufacturer guidelines, and company policies related to equipment operation and maintenance.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and address potential hazards.
- Implement safety training programs for equipment operators and maintenance staff.
Budget And Resource Management
- Coordinate procurement of parts, materials, and services necessary for equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor fuel consumption and equipment usage to optimize operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Supervision And Training
- Supervise a team of mechanics, technicians, and equipment operators.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and training to ensure team members perform their duties effectively and safely.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development among equipment maintenance personnel.
Reporting And Documentation
- Prepare regular reports on equipment performance, maintenance activities, and budget expenditures.
- Analyze data and metrics to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Communicate equipment status, issues, and recommendations to senior management and project stakeholders.
Competencies
- Proven experience in equipment management, preferably in a construction, mining, logistics, or similar industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment systems, maintenance practices, and repair procedures.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental guidelines, and industry standards.
- Leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a diverse team.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel for project management.
- Strong leadership to effectively manage and motivate teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges.
- Highly organized with attention to detail.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
