Hatch, a full-service consultancy, is currently seeking a highly motivated, dynamic Mechanical / Piping Junior CAD Technologist new graduate with interest in Mechanical design to join the Project Delivery Group, Mechanical team. Reporting to the Mechanical/Piping Discipline Lead Engineer or Discipline Lead Designer you will support projects globally working from the Saskatoon office.

The Mechanical group is comprised of a group of professional engineers, designers and technologists led by a management team that has pioneered renewable power technology globally. We are looking for young designers eager to be involved in complex small and large-scale renewable power projects, and able to demonstrate their keen problem-solving skills in developing practical solutions. The candidate must be a self-motivated individual capable of working both independently and within a team environment.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Work independently to apply design principles for 3D models and 2D mechanical equipment, general arrangement drawings of facilities and processes.
  • Work collaboratively to share the results of your work with senior members of the discipline and/or other Hatch groups.
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings of mechanical equipment.
  • Become knowledgeable of various mechanical equipment, various design tools, piping system design, discipline workflows, and industrial components/processes.
  • Participate in office and site safety training and inductions as needed to support office and site activities.
  • Perform field verification and provide field support during construction.
  • Willingness and ability to travel and work in other Hatch offices or project work sites (including remote sites) as needs and opportunities arise.

You bring to the role:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2025, or recently graduated, with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar program.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Previous relevant co-op and summer work terms or internships in Mechanical or Piping design is an asset.
  • Academic or work experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley MicroStation, OpenPlant or Design Review CAD software is an asset.
  • Understanding or experience with layout development of industrial facilities is considered an asset.
