Mechanical Engineer - Wet Lab Specialist

Required Skills & Experience

1. 8+ years' experience working in Mechanical Engineering and Construction (MEP)
2. Work experience in Public Sector; ideally Higher Education / Universities or Healthcare / Hospitals
3. Experience working to design, build, or optimize complex Research & Development lab
4. Licensed Professional Engineer (PEng)
5. Hands-on experience with Auto Cad
6. Hands-on Experience building Wet Labs

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

1. LEED Certification
2. Bilingual in French and English

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join one of our Higher Education clients in Ottawa. This role starts as a 1 year-fixed-term contract that can transition into a permanent role at the conclusion of the contract. These resources will join a growing team of engineers working on R&D labs throughout the institution.

The successful candidate should possess a P.Eng license that is transferrable in Ontario. They should also possess a minimum of 10 years of experience, specifically designing Higher Education or Healthcare environments, building and commissioning research labs, and creating labs suitable for specific equipment.

In the role, the successful candidate will be working closely with stakeholders, evaluating the lab requirements, and being able to define the project and solution and review submissions by consultants, serving as subject matter expert. This resource will be hands-on with different lab and research-grade equipment and will need to have strong problem-solving abilities. They should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English.
