Mechanical Engineer - Senior

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is seeking "Expression of Interest" for a Mechanical Engineer with pulp & paper, utility or oil & gas experience, in New Brunswick.
In this role, you will collaborate with a team of mechanical, electrical, and structural engineers / technicians to provide client-focused solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Conduct research, analysis and troubleshooting to identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions for clients
2. Prepare and check engineering drawings
3. Prepare and check engineering calculations (weight, flow, thermal, stress, etc.) to support designs
4. Prepare specifications, reports, test plans, design bases and other technical documents
5. Prepare material take-offs and bills of material
6. Prepare cost estimates and schedules
7. Interface with vendors to obtain technical and commercial information
8. Interface with clients for project scope development, design reviews and progress meetings
9. Travel to client sites during various project stages, conduct field assessments and provide construction support
10. Provide technical direction to construction contractors and assess quality of field work

QUALIFICATIONS

1. University Mechanical Engineering Degree and registered as a Professional Engineer within Canada
2. Relevant work experience as a Mechanical Engineer and 7+ years of experience in industrial projects
3. Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and MS Project
4. Experience with technical software such as Aspen, Caesar, Navisworks, etc would be an asset
5. Technical writing proficiency
6. Experience with local, national, and international design codes
7. Experience in a consulting, industrial and / or utility environment
8. Experience with assessment or design of industrial HVAC, piping, material handling, hydraulics, or rotating machinery
9. Ability to take ownership of an assignment or task with a strong sense of pride in your work
10. Conversant with relevant standards, specifications, rules, and regulations
11. Proven team player with strong oral and written communication skills
12. Able to engage directly and positively with customers and build customer relationships
13. Must be lawfully eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood
