Your Opportunity

Morrison Hershfield, now Stantec’s Buildings group, provides integrated engineering solutions to institutional, industrial, transit, mission-critical, laboratory, commercial, hi-rise residential, and commercial clients with a focus on providing solutions for owners and architects where facilities require reliable and cost-effective infrastructure for both new and retrofit solutions. The combined skills of our engineers, technicians, and support personnel with diverse backgrounds in design and construction provide clients with a team recognized as leaders in the field.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts engineering/architecture/planning options comparisons by undertaking multi-factor assessments to select preferred cost-effective alternatives.
  • Prepares contract drawings and specifications in conjunction with the project team for delivery to the client.
  • Documents study progress/results through the preparation of memos, minutes, and reports as a record of events.
  • Provides direction to project team members and support staff through verbal and written instructions and assigns work to appropriate individuals.
  • Liaises with clients to exchange information regarding project progress.
  • Provides technical judgment.
  • Conducts business development activities to secure new projects by client liaison and proposal preparation.
  • Prepares site visit reports by interpreting findings to give clear recommendations and direction to clients.
  • Reviews shop drawings and design details by analyzing them for continuity and viability.
  • Certifies professional work.
  • Works without detailed supervision.
  • Receives broad guidelines, working within defined standards and specifications.
  • Exercises independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information.
  • May supervise staff.
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
  • Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • May be the primary contact with clients.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors' degree or equivalent required.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Ability to develop mechanical engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit preferred.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
