Your work environment at EXP

EXP is searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical/Electrical team in our Ottawa, ON office. The successful applicant will be joining a diverse engineering group in Central Canada poised for growth and challenging opportunities well into the future.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• Reports to the Mechanical/Electrical Manager or Project Manager with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision on projects from start to completion.
• Act as single point of contact with client project managers for project scope definition, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Responsible for meeting firm’s engineering quality levels for discipline on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts by Designers and ensures proper application and execution.
• Verifies Designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings. Mentors and encourages development of Designer level staff.
• Lead the design team to develop the Basis of Design (BOD), Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD) that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget and use best practices.
• Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering. Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Responsible for applying risk management practices to all projects.
• Writes studies and reports on mechanical system work.
• Contributes to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.

What your experience looks like

• The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in the Mechanical Engineering field.
• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or equivalent degree.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products and mechanical design software. AutoCAD experience required and REVIT MEP proficiency is an asset.
