Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open-pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with our local communities.

The Mechanical Design Technician supports the infrastructure projects teams by producing technical drawings, 3D models, and design documentation for mechanical systems, layouts and infrastructure. This role ensures equipment and systems are designed accurately and efficiently to support safe and reliable operations across the site. The technician plays a key role in concept studies, project initiation, detailed execution, and final turn over.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1:

Mechanical drafting and design support

• Create and revise general site layout, detailed mechanical drawings, schematics, and models and plant infrastructure using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Support the design of new mechanical systems and facilities and assist in retrofitting or upgrading existing assets.
• Collaborate with engineers and trades to ensure practical, efficient, and safe design solutions.

Area 2:

Technical Documentation and Standards

• Ensure all mechanical drawings are produced in line with company and industry standards.
• Maintain organized, up-to-date design records, drawing libraries, and revision histories.
• Integrate field changes into official design documentation.
• Prepare bills of materials (BOMs), technical datasheets, and drawing packages for procurement and installation.
• Prepare final turn-over packages upon project completion to site operation and maintenance teams.

Area 3:

Project Management and Support

• Provide general support to the infrastructure projects team on daily tasks as required.
• Opportunity to work on a variety of different projects, from mining infrastructure to mill equipment upgrades and tailings and camp expansions.
• Be a part of a growing team of project-oriented professionals and contribute to the successful project executions.

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

• College diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
• EIT or P.Eng is considered an asset.

Work experience - Nature & Length

• 3+ years of experience as a mechanical designer.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent).
• Good understanding of mechanical systems and site layouts.
• Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in mining, heavy industrial, or construction environments is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with general mining equipment and layout.
